Well if it is a question on the most deserving wrestlers to hold the title there is a long list.
Chris Benoit - The best wrestler in the WWE and he has only had one run.
Booker - One of the most total wrestlers in and out of the ring.
Shawn Michaels - He hasn't held the title since his fued with HHH back in 2003.
Undertaker - He is soon to leave, why not give him the title one more time.
Kane - He has held the title a total of 24 hours and he is one of, if not the hardest working wrestler in the WWE.
RVD - He is the best athlete on the ECW roster.
The list goes on and on. But I can tell you one thing, Bobby Lashley, John Cena, and Dave Batista are not on it. Cena has the title because the fans find his gimick entertaining (why I don't know). Batista has the title because of his look these days and nothing more. He had good mic skills but then he got injured. Lashley has the title mainly because of his look as well. His in ring skills have improved but he's still nothing special in the ring and he certainly is nothing on the mic.
And to answer your question, I think both Batista and Cena will drop their titles at Mania, and Lashley will prolly drop his title soon after. There is a good chance of the WWE having a draft lotery after Mania and if they do there is a good chance of Lashley being moved to another brand or a big heel going to ECW (maybe a returning Mark Henry?).

Ok.... so.. here is my opinion, speaking as someone who is GOING to WrestleMania. John Cena is ok, a better hunter than hunted. Bobby Lashley is on the "new" and by the quotes I mean really watered down ECW, so no one really cares. Batista is strong and has a ring and mic presence. I am surprised each passing year that the Undertaker does not win a Championship, he is the absolute best and I do not see why "the conscience of WWE" hasn't been a champ in 4 + years. HHH and HBK have done so much since they started that they have nothing left to prove, hence the reformation of DX. I think they should push other talent, Orton, Edge maybe even push Carlito w Flair as a manager to get up to the pinnacle. Just thinkin.

Lashley stands out more, but to steal from a poster on a different question until he breaks out of his shell (I'm personally thinking massive heel turn) he is just a chump like Cena. I liked Batista better when he was the Reverend, but there was just something with that gimmick that the WWE could have had fun with.
As for dropping the belt, I would go with Cena dropping the belt, but I think it will Batista that will drop it to Taker to facilitate Batista's heel turn.

ECW Champion: Bobby Lashey, he is not a chump because he was in the military so dont mess with him.
RAW Champion: HHH because Cena is a popular guy not a champion, so he is a popular chump.
SMACKDOWN Champion: The Undertaker because Batista is a steriod taker. And because Undertaker needs a shot.

Ah, the three Steroid chumps.
Cena has a close personal relationship with Vince, taht is wh yhe is WWE champion, and Lashley and Batista are only champions because of their massive muscle size.
