i'm american guy, and i don't know too much about the stereotypes, except in the province(countryside or out of the cities) the children mostly call you joe, or kano. and even older men call you joe, i got used to it so it was cool then to wave to the children. i felt like a celeberty. and in most places they will think your rich. so don't flash cash or nice things cause that just makes them really think your rich(i myself am not rich either being only 25yrs old) most american men are "old man" as my fiance calls them. so you being young and with a filipina(i assume your younger than 50 if not i apolojize for the old man remark no harm ment i see nothing wrong with age difference) they will think something is wrong with her for not finding a richer older man and something wrong with you for not just getting many girls from the bars like some military guys do. just be kind and have a sense of humor, and beware of people taking advantage of you, stick by your fiance's side or her close families side. and be careful at the airport on your arrival they did not let my fiance's family or her into the airport they had to wait down and across the street for security. so when i got thru customs it was night and dark and i had no idea which way to go or where she was. my cell phone did not work there. and i was so tired i just thought it'd be easy to find her, i asked a female security gaurd if i could use her cell as i saw her using it for text. she said sure, for 25 dollars! looking backits safer to do that than just walk out of the airport with no idea which way to go. luckily after i crossed the street and went mindlessly into a parking garage and down to street level, there she was headed my way. i could have gotten picked up or robbed or mislead easily. be careful and think first, but over all you'll have a good time.

So my fiance is Filipina and I'm meeting her family and parents this summer. (GOOD LUCK AND I WISH YOU BOTH ALL THE BEST.)
She told me the stereotype is white guys are horny and unfaithful (which is true a lot but I'm not :P) And also that we have money. (which I don't but exchange rate to America makes it easy to afford a Philippine vacation) (THESE WOULD GENERALLY BE IT. YOU MAY ALSO BE CALLED AS "KANO", 'LABANOS", "PUTI", "JOE", "G.I.", ETC.)
Someone from Manilla said being white is a good way to get robbed cause they assume I'm rich and weak (Wrong on both counts :P) (YET YOU MAY STILL BE ROBBED SINCE YOU'RE A FOREIGNER, AND ESPECIALLY IF YOU GO TO PLACES EVEN US LOCALS MAY GET ROBBED).
First time in the Islands I know little about the culture.
(JUST ASK YOUR FIANCE WHENEVER YOU ENCOUNTER A SITUATION OR IF YOU ANTICIPATE YOU'LL BE IN A SITUATION WHERE YOU ARE NOT SURE HOW TO CARRY YOURSELF. ENJOY YOUR STAY AND BE SAFE.)

Sir, I am really concerned about you because its your first time. If you look and act lost and vulnerable, possible someone could develop a plan to mislead you ,but that could happen anywhere in world.
You need to be sure that the filipina and her family is there to protect you.
I highly advise you to take your time with what you are doing.
Relax, have fun and observe your surroundings. Please be yourself and DON'T worry about the stereotype of all white men. You are an individual who happen to be white so don't let anyone put a label on you.
I assume that you are a young man with little experience.
I ask you to please don't be in a rush and take your time.
I wish that I can talk to you off line about many wonderful things about the Philippines and its culture and people because I've been a frequent visitor for many years.
Try to learn tagalog language. It will help solve mysteries and uncertainties.
Take good care of yourself okay.

And "which I don't but exchange rate to America makes it easy to afford a Philippine vacation" - sure but the GNP in the Philippines is around 5 % and in the US it's around 2% from last year. If the family is of the middle to upper class, they won't think much of your dollar because from the Php56 high it's been down to about Php48 so if they welcome you warmly, there's a high chance that they like you for the individual you. Just kidding.
You're girl is smart to tell you that but I'm sure you'd prove yourself a good son-in-law.
"And also that we have money." - That's true. After enjoying your meal in a restaurant, the bill is usually given to you because they think you're the one with the dosh, hence, the one to pay.
And if it's anything, if you go shopping in malls, you'd usually get slightly special treatment. But for the wet markets, even just the locals who look like they have money, or they speak English, which insinuates you have money, are ones are disadvantaged because people will charge higher, usually.
Don't think about it too much or you might annoy people. Just be a gracious guest. If it's culture you want to know Filipinos still value manners. It's not that Filipinos are extremely well-mannered or too courteous or anything extreme but if you're generous with your good manners, please's, thank you's, opening the door, being chivalrous and all, they'll usually warm to you.
Good luck

What is up with this exotic nature of the phillipines. It's just a country in Asia. Women go with foriengn for better oppertunties. Who told you filipinos think white men are weak? I have walked around manilla in the squaters drunk byself and never got a hand laid on me. No, most filipinos are intimitated by foreign men...ESP black guys. But if your 5'9" your already taller the 70% of the men over there if you weigh over 190 pounds they will think your a wrestler lol filipinos think white men are weak lol maybe the flips in Hawaii

some people may think that every foreigner in the Philippines has money.
some may think you are here in search for someone to get married to.. and you're right, we may think whites (well not all, I know) are horny and unfaithful...
most whites in the Philippines scout for the understated kind of Filipinas and not those who look better. I am not sure if your fiance is also short, dark and ugly... :)

those you've mentioned are the common ones for most filipinos. what do i have to say about you guys? well, for one you're fond of "exotic beauties"..:) you prefer us rather than those gals residing in your country.
you'll have a fun time when you get there. the family and the rest of the neighborhood would treat you as a celebrity..haha particularly in the provinces.

No offence, but the most common stereotype is the body odor ... apparently especially on wintertime, the caucasians are kind of lazy to take a shower. But hey, they're better off than those chilli eating guys and gals.....

Well, we might call you "labanos" I think "labanos" is a vegetable that's white in color. Also, they might think you spend your time in wet markets or palengke. White peeps go to that place since you can't find any in the US.
