My pool has black algae and I can't get rid of it! Any advice how to?

it has spread and we brush it, but its really hard to get off, and it comes back! Thanks for the answers!

first of all you need a steel brush, and brush the sides of the pool everyday. it would also be a good idea to shock the pool, do not dump it all in one area or you will ruin the plaster in that one spot. walk around the pool spreading the shock evenly throught the entire edge of the pool

You need to brush the algae surface. It is best if you can remove it, depending on your pool finish will determine how you can do this. Then use an algaecide that says it kills black mold. Follow the directions and do not use too much. Keep the balance correct to keep it from coming back. Shock weekly and check the chemical balance several times a week.

From what my pool guys tells me ...if it has spread to more than one spot in your pool...the pool needs to be drained power washed and chemically scrubbed with acid. Black algae spores fly through the air and land in your pool....so you just have to stay on top of the chemical chore of the pool work to keep it under control!!
