I am truely puzzled as to why so many things went wrong in the movie. I saw the movie before I read the books and thought it was awesome then, but now it seems ridiculus. I'm not sure how they can even make Eldest now. Or how will the make it make sense? any one else feel the same?

I could say so much on that. They got a lot of things wrong, left out over half the book, and even got a lot of the small(er) things wrong (like when Eragon finds out that Brom was a Rider; in the book, he finds out right before Brom dies, and by then, he has already met Murtagh; in the movie, Eragon finds out not long after they leave). For me, the only watchable part of the movie was when Saphira came out of her shell (it was so cute! :)). How the heck did Saphira grow so fast in the movie? She's a half-grown dragon when she first flies, and when she comes back to earth from that same flight, she's a full-grown dragon! Aaaaaaaahhhhh! And Eragon is supposed to have already named Saphira before she's full-grown (it's in the book). The movie was full of crappy acting (especially that Galbatorix guy; the book never actually has him in character, either...). And they left out the Twins! (some of the other answerers have already mentioned how wrong that is; they were a major part of Eragon's life at that dwarf city (Tronjheim, I think).). Also, they got wrong how Eragon discovered some powers in the Ancient Language. In, the book, it started with Brom teaching him parts of the Ancient language, an then he discovers some things he can do (it doesn't start when he blows some Urgals to bits). I don't see how they can make a second movie; the first was so crappy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know how they'll make it make sense. How are they going to explain how Murtagh disappears? In the book, he vanished with the Twins. They might as well forget about making anymore of these movies.

By the way, do you have any idea of when the third book is coming out? :)

They cut the twins? But they start sh*t in the next book!

What got me away from seeing the movie was Saphira's wings; no non-Pokémon dragon should have feathered wings. But, based on the findings of these people here, I will NEVER EVER see this movie. I'd have liked for Dreamworks to have made this movie. Or WB. Or Disney. Anyone but Fox. I saw this coming since the summer of '05, when Eldest first came out. Fox's last great movie, in my opinion, was Independence Day. There's no hope for the series with Fox at the helm.

I agree completely. That's the problem with movies, the are only "BASED" on the book... which in English means they destroy the book.

I was disappointed not to see the Dwarf's crystal Rose. It was supposed to shatter when Eragon killed the shade. It was supposed to shatter!!

Nothing was the same.

I was disappointed with the movie. (I usually am when I read a book then watch the movie.) I am not pleased with ANY of the Harry Potter movies either.

OH, Read the "His Dark Materials" Trilogy by Phillip Pullman BEFORE they become a movie (they are filming). That was a great series, and I am horrified to see how they are going to slaughter the movie :)

Take care!

don't even get me started. in the movie, what was up with that chemistry between aria and eragon? that was not in the book! and did anyone else notice saphira's wings changing drastically. when she hatched, she had skinned wings like she should and then when she grows up she has feathered wings. they didn't have the twins, they didn't have the dwarf king, they had brom die while riding saphira...the whole movie was just way off! other than not following the book very well, the movie was pretty enjoyable, ^__^

the movie had amazing graphics, but they did not follow the story line AT ALL (except that there was a guy named Eragon, and a dragon,). THEY CUT THE TWINS!!!!!!!! i liked the twins.
