On the replay of the (horseturd) call, you could see the puck hit the glass on its way out. The referee was not looking at the play; his head was turned in the complete opposite direction. The whistle was blown and the penalty called after the referee saw the New Jersey player in front of him pointing over the glass, indicating Spacek had thrown the puck out of play. Isn't it a bit stupid for a referee who didn't see the play to call a penalty based on the claims of the opposing team?! I'm a pretty reasonable person, but somehow that just doesn't seem right!

I wasn't particularly mad about a bad call; I realize that they happen and I usually keep my mouth shut because they do go both ways. I was mad because the day referees start taking the players' words for what happened when they couldn't see a play, the NHL loses its credibility completely and totally.

The refs make mistakes all the time...they are human. And besides, why the crying about it...your team won anyway?

I have more of a problem with the apparent fact that the refs have changed what they perceive as a penalty as opposed to earlier in the season.

The NHL clearly hires the handicapped. That's the only possible answer. The officials are basically imcompetent and over their heads.I have no horse in this race, so couldn't care less which way this went. But time after time the officials make an absolutely unbelievably bad call, using bad judgement, and you wonder, with two referrees on the ice and two linesmen, how such calls can be made.

The other night in the Toronto game a player was clearly tripped by Toronto and the called the penalty on the one who was clearly tripped. And they didn't even try and save their stupidity by saying he dove. No, they just had it backward.

In tonight's Carolina game their was a clear, no questions asked major for boarding they totally ignored...giving the other team the penalty for roughing.

Amazing.

Gotta agree with Bob... even though I am THE Sabres fan, a call is a call, and the refs... like you and I, are indeed Human. Besides, when you are the best team in the League, you gotta bend the rules to give other teams a chance.

Incompetent calls happen every night. They normally don't effect the outcome. Hopefully a supervisor of officials was on hand and fined.

The refs are not robots, that is part of the fun of the game. I bet you don't get in a hissyfit when your team gets a horseturd call in their favor. it all evens out. With all of the calls that Hasek used to get, let's call it karma and my name is Earl.
