Here's the story: I was coming out of school at 3:45 as usual and then I saw some men in suits in front of the waiting buses giving out New Testaments (AKA Bibles). As a Christian, I took one. But as a middle school student, I thought to myself, "This is a public school. Why are they giving bibles?". And after all, I know a Jew and an Indian that go to my school. This could be offensive to their and others' beliefs. Tell me what you think.

i guess its okay to hand them out as long as all they are doing is handing them out. they shouldn't force anything on anyone tho. and if they are allowed to hand out bibles then other people should be allowed to hand out other materials like the koran.

With all the drugs and fighting going on in schools today, you ask if they should give out bibles? I'm sure the Jewish person or the Indian can politely say no or just walk the other way. The way schools are today they need all the help they can get! As for ethics, are drugs, lying, stealing, fighting ethical?? My grandkids are in school and this is all very prevalent now, today and tomorrow and next day, etc.

If it was actually on school property, there is probably some legal aspect that could create a problem. Ethically, I don't feel it is out of line (but then again, I'm a Christian that believes in sharing the gospel) They aren't forcing anyone to take the books and they certainly can't force anyone to read it.

I grew up in a time when we had religious ed. in school. Not everyone went, it was a CHOICE. Accepting a Bible is a choice as well. If you really think about it, we are faced with choices every minute of everyday. I would rather my child accept a Bible outside of school than drugs.
