Compared to Interview With A Vampire, Queen of the Damned doesn't come to close. It is a really, really bad movie adaptation of the novel. Was it just because that Aaliyah died suddenly that the movie did well at the box office?

* I mean no disrespect towards Aaliyah and to her fanbase; even though I never cared for her music it still is very tragic that she passed away so young.

The films success had many different variables. Consider Aaliyah's fans, Anne Rice's fans, and fans of Interview With The Vampire. We have an audience of RNB fans, horror movie fans, and fans of the vampire sub-genre. As bad as the movie may have been, there are plenty of different people who could/do like it, therefore the success (so to speak) would have only had a 33.3% chance of being changed indefinitely by her death. I'd say the success would have mainly come from fans of the original film, who expected maybe a little more than what they had been given.

I think Aaliyah's death had a lot to do with the popularity of the movie. But I also think it was a good movie, once you got past the boooring beginning. Still, I agree that it wasn't nearly as good as Interview With a Vampire.

on the beginning up, Ledger did now no longer die from an overdose of unlawful narcotics, yet a bad mix of slumbering tablets; 2nd, i do no longer have faith that Ledger could delve so deep good right into a function as to reinforce into suicidal (BTW, the Joker isn't suicidal--he basically kills others!); Thirdly, and quickly answering your question, i think of that the Joker function replaced into the only explanation for Ledger's loss of existence! He replaced into below various rigidity and altered into taking a minimum of 5 slumbering drugs, which incorporate Ambien and Vicoden. He poured himself into his artwork to the quantity that the stress made him an insomniac. Had he been in a miles much less demanding function, he does now no longer have had issue slumbering, does now no longer have been on maximum of medicine, and could even nevertheless be between us on the on the spot!

Many people would've see it whether she was alive or not so long as she was in the movie. But you must understand just because alot of people see a movie in the theaters doesn't mean they liked it because many movies are hits that were just bad like the Fantastic Four. A movie being a hit just means that many people were INTERESTED in the movie and decided to go see it but that doesn't mean they liked after they saw it. i like Aaliyah too but I though the movie was horrible, although I didn't see it just because she is in it.

I agree. The whole movie was awful. i love the books and Interview with the vampire was an excellent movie. But they tried to stuff two long books into one movie, and they had to change to many things. The only thing I liked about it was the music they made for it and Stuart Townsend.

After the movie was made it was decided that it would go straight to video. After she died the decision was changed. I guess they thought they'd have more interest since she had passed away.

no, i was never a fan of Aaliyah and am still not, i'm a big fan of Stuart Townsend though... and i love Anne Rice's books so thats why i love this movie (and it has an awsome soundtrack too... one of the best for a movie that i have heard so far)...

And i personally liked Queen of the Damnned a lot more than Interview with a Vampire... not sure if me not liking Tom or Brad had anything to do with that... Christain was the best bit in that movie...

I believe that is one of the most widely accepted reason for the movie's "success;" indeed, it had originally been slated for a straight-to-video release, and was switched to theatrical release at the last moment.

Yes, because the movie wasn't that good.
