As a gay or lesbian person, do you think you are embraced or at least respected in America as a whole? Is it easier to be gay or lesbian? How do you think your sexuality has effected your life?

Much easier. Things are improving steadily -- not only legally -- but in interpersonal relationships. Despite all the efforts of the Extremists -- under every guise from some forms of religious beliefs to bogus and discredited psychology -- have failed to convince anywhere near half of younger people to support their agenda of hate. We know of no one personally who hates gays anymore -- though we do know a very few who "disapprove" but consider it a "personal matter."
Yes, things have gotten better.

Having lived through the fearful 50s Let me tell you, Gay people today have it a lot easier. You do not have cops backing the patty wagon up to the bar door and saying, "Every other man at the bar. Vagrancy by loitering." We gained half a loaf. But you still have a long way to go. This old geezer will stand on the side lines and cheer as you fight the way we did and gain the whole loaf.
How has being a Gay man effected my life? It has made me strong and proud to be a part of a warm and loving community. As I reach the twilight of my life it swells my heart with tears to see you young people out in public showing affection for each other with out fear. The lost job? The arrest? Oh man were they worth it. I like to think of myself as your grandfather who is so prowed of you kids he could bust.

definately easier! I live in the south (where diversity is SLIM), and when rumors were going around (at the same time) that I was gay and I was dating a black guy and I got sooo much more acceptance when people heard the gay rumors! I lost friends because they thought I dated the black guy! haha.. so gays are definately more embraced!!

i think it has become easier. with gay character or actor making it big, and show on major television show. and more people are coming out. i have to say it is easier.
