Well, not to some people, but there are so many other great NHL players out there that they should get some attention too!

He is a GREAT player and he is AMAZING, but there are other players out there too that don't get that much attention! Everyone is saying i should watch a game that he'll play in and i think I'll do that, but I think that other players should get a lot of attention too! Whenever a player other than Sid is playing, they're still talking about him! Can't they give other players some publicity too?

Those "youngest to" records are bogus. Gretzky reached all of those milestones in fewer games and was 8 months older(seven? I dunno) than Crosby when he started in the league. He can't be blamed for having an early birthday. People just want to believe that they can witness the best in their lifetime... Look at Lebron James... People just want a new MJ... There's just an obsession, people always want to see a new best or whatever... He does get too much attention, and I think he's not THAT much better than a lot of the players around him...
And Loblaw, he hasn't won ANYTHING yet.. Hold your horses... Though I guess it's tough being such a fan... Heh.

Godchick - just to add to your response...common sense is not so common!
As far as Sid the Kid is concerned, well - who the hell said he was overrated?
Secondly, this young kid is one of the best player in the NHL, leads the NHL in points and he is in his second year! Players are normally at their prime around 26-30 age range!
Thirdly, when Sid was a real kid (pre-NHL) Wayne stated that Sid was the Next One.
Then there is the fact that he is probably the world's most eligible bachelor and could sweep any young chiquita off their feet.
So, NO he is not overated, He is Rated as he is...the BEST!

most Canadians knew about Sidney Crosby when he was just a kid well i know i did since the age of around 11 or 12 he was already getting media attention and the kid has been around this for so long that's why he looks like a veteran when hes talking about the game and hes not shy of the camera. yes he was compared to Gretzky and look at the way its going Crosby the youngest to reach 100 points mark and the youngest to reach the 200 points mark even before Gretzky. and hes not overrated.

I think you're mistaking overrated with overhyped. He is going to win the scoring title at 19 and have back to back 100 point seasons before he's 20. I might agree with overrated if he was playing with superior linemates, but Colby Armstrong, Ryan Malone and even recently Mark Recchi have sucked playing with Sid. Imagine where he might be with stellar linemates to play with all this season. And Ovechkin gets almost as much attention as Sid.

Being the youngest player TO EVER win a scoring race will do that. He isn't overrated-just rated accordingly. All this and still a teenager. Yeah, why does he get all that hype? Come on, I mean COOOOOOOMEEEEEEEE OONNNNN.

(Assuming that you are an adult) Did you lead the NHL in scoring at the age of 19? Were you the youngest player EVER to reach 200 points in the NHL?
Didn't think so.

Well because he is really good. Like Dwaye Wade, it's messed up because he is really popular even when he was a rookie!!!!!!!! Brouduer should get some attention though. He is the best present day goalie!!!

Overrated??? As the top point getter in his sophomore year?
I'm not sure you understand the concept of overrating, or you don't know hockey...
If you got your hockey news from somewhere besides USA Today, you'd know that he's not the only guy who gets attention.

i don't think he's overrated, he was compared to wayne and mario at 18 years old, tough to live up to that. he's been pretty humble in most of the interviews i've seen him in...my only problem is how they even put his passes onto highlight reels.... "SID THE KID JUST TOUCHED THE PUCK" ...that gets kinda lame, but again, out of his hands.
