Some of the questions I have posted are:

1. "As a liberal, what do you feel about cousin marriages?"

2. "Do you consider abortion as a form of murder?"

3. "Is abortion a physically painful and extremely expensive procedure?"

The thing is I come from a backward culture & i want to learn about Western culture. So, I ask some of these basic questions. But I hear from some people that my questions do not warrant an answer, much less an intelligent one. What is wrong with my questions? I would like to hear intelligent opinions from people, but all I get are only emotional, close-minded views.

Should I rephrase my questions so that they are more intelligent? I'm sorry because English is not my first language

I guess I will try for a shot.
1. I am not either liberal nor conservative on all views. I do not agree with cousin marriges because of the high risk of birth deformities as well as genetic diseases.
2. A fetus is a human and has complete potential to grow into an adult human. Since murder is a human killing another human, and murder in the first degree is a premeditated killing of another human, I believe that abortion is murder. On the other hand, one must also consider the fact that, if abortion was outlawed, many people would have streetside abortions, and thus increase the rate of death in this country dramitically.
3. If the being has a functional nervous system, it feels pain. Since mothers can't detect pregnancy until (I think) 14-20 days after conception, the nervous system has already started to form. So yes, the baby/fetus does expierience as much pain as any other human that is ripped apart.
The problem is, most people don't like to talk about opinions in philosophy because it cannot always be proven through evidence or experience.

Perhaps your wording is a bit offensive, which would make people be more aggressive. In your first question it is as if you assume liberals support incestuous relationships. Since the language issue may have contributed to this, just tell people English isn't your first language and that they can always ask for question clarification.

Maybe you should state in your questions that you are asking a serious question and would only like serious answers. Ask that no overly emotional answers be given, your question is for learning purposes and is not intended to hurt anyone.

Good for you for trying to understand others. I'm sorry that you are encountering trouble on your quest for knowledge.

You should not feel this way, no question is too opinionated that's the beauty of Yahoo answers and we all warrant a response regardless of content or the goodness of any one question.

These are not unintelligent questions. These are very good thought provoking questions. Please continue to ask them, when I see them I will answer them. As for the people who have been hounding you over your questions, simply ignore them. The people who get defensive over questions like these are the people who truly do not have a good grounded belief, they simply parrot what they hear and when pressed for the bases for their beliefs, they realize they have none of their own.

i doubt that there is anything wrong with your questions but more of people's opinions. i think its just people and you shouldn't expect fair or even honest answers all the time. your getting opinions not really actual answers.
