Whereas society at large is experiencing 60-70% divorce rates. Why do you think there is such a disparity? Should we redefine marriage as a family activity rather than an individual quest for 'love'?? Pray tell.

It is only an opinion, but I would suggest that cultures that still arrange marriages have a code of family honor. Under those terms, divorce would be seen as shameful to the whole family, and is therefore not allowed. No matter how the two who are married feel about one another. I, personally, would rather be free to find the one who moves me (as I did), than rely on my family to choose a partner for me. Besides, my family has notoriously poor taste...heh heh!

This is just my take on it but with arrange marriages, the expectations for the other person is different from romantic marriages. Getting married is seen more as an economic, social gesture. That is why the problems that arise with romantic marriages such as not loving the other person anymore, or getting bothered by the other's infidelity is as rampant.

Most cultures that have arranged marriages don't approve or divorces and usually if a women divorces she can never marry again.

most peoples that still practice arranged marriages do not allow divorce. you are stuck for life, like it or not
