Jason Kidd is definitely in the same level as Nash. Kidd started his career earlier than Nash and Kidd immediately had a big impact to Dallas turning the losing team into a team that could almost make the playoff. It was too bad that Dallas traded him to Suns. Nash was mentored by Kidd then as a Suns. Kidd also is a much better all-round point guard as well as he is close to averaging a triple doubles. He transformed New Jersey immediately in the first year and following with another NBA Finals the next. Too bad the West was too strong.

Nash is better in shooting comparing with Kidd but Kidd is a better defensive player (rebound and steal). In terms of assist, I think they are equal similarly becos the current Suns is playing a run-and-gun game. I believe if u put Kidd in there, he will also get similar assist number.

I really think they are on the same level. I don't want to pick who is better cos for me, they are both superstar calibur PG.

Jason Kidd is on Nash's level. I've always thought that Kidd was better. Imagine if you will the scenario: Kidd and Nash appear in the same gym at the same time. They've heard all the talk and wish to settle that question. Who would win a game of one on one? One without jaundiced NBA officiating. Nash or Kidd? Who would defend the other better? Who would score most easily on the other? Nash is not perceived as the best player by many because of his abilities alone or his stat line. He's perceived that way because of biased subjectivity. It's unfortunate. He's allowed far too many times to be treated with kid gloves. He gets a respect from NBA officiating that's unwarranted. The most valuable player is the player that the majority of the fans pay to see;that the majority of fans want to see. That player has the most interest from the experts, his peers, his detractors, his foes...He's the one you want with the ball when a basket must be made. He's the one you want defending the other teams best player. The MVP award should be won by that type of player. One where clearly his play is head and shoulders above the rest, and where the demand from the public is most directed. Playing in the league right now is the most feared player in the league since the demise of Michael Jordan's prime. No one wants to guard him. No one wants him going off on their team. The MVP is not the player who it's perceived, makes his teammates better. Empirically, what is making one's teammates better? Helping to increase the scoring averages of teammates? Come on... Funny how that is now so important a consideration. It sure wasn't that way for John Stockton when he was playing all those years while Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird were playing in the NBA with him. There exists a nasty, not written about, certainly not broadcasted or spoken about in the national media, plaque like bias against Kobe Bryant that existed in small degrees before the Katelyn Faber incident. But since then its been ugly and socially condoned by the majority public. Especially one segment of that public. Well this has hurt the perceptions of others because of that same majority public's desire to spread acceptance of Steve Nash as the NBA's best player. How can Nash be so lavished if for example, others like Jason Kidd are considered better at the same position than him? It's very offensive to Jason Kidd that many feel that Nash is the best point guard in the NBA hands down. Do they feel that way from careful observation and level of playing experience? Or do they feel that way because of certain types of sportswriting and televison commentary? Even this late in his career, Kidd's peers know the deal.

Jason Kidd Is better than Nash! LET ME EXPLAIN WHY! Everyone talks about haw Nash makes things on that team happen. Look who he has on he team i could rack up 15 assist per game. He has Shawn Marrion,Armire,Barbosa, all potential all stars. Nash has the better team. Jason kidd has over 50 career triple-doubles. He only has Vince Carter. Carter is good but not better than 3 all stars,. SO it's easier when you have loads of talent around you. Kidd simply has to work with what's there.

earlier in his career, the question would have been is nash on kidd's level. but now, even though kidd is still an all-star, nash is just in a totaly different league. his assists are higher, he can run faster, his shot is way better than kidds, and his team is winning. kidd is still probably a better all around player with his better defense and rebounding, but nash has two mvps to counter him with. kidd still has carter and rj, but nash has marrion and STAT so you cant really give anybody an advantage that way. but i would give nash the advantage in the coach corner of the game. but younger in the day, kidd would have killed nash.

just shows how much of a variable time can be

In their primes I'd take Kidd anyday, but Kidd is on the down part of his career, so right now Nash is better. Kidd didn't get as much recognition because he's never really been in a system that best suits him. He still made it to two finals however.

If Kidd was in his prime and running the Suns, he'd be a 3 time MVP.

I would say, Steve Nash is on Jason Kidd's level now (other way around) and better because of his 2 MVP's but Kidd is not yet ready to pass the torch which he inherit from Stockton from Magic from Maravich from Frazier from Robertson from Cousy and from Bob Davies.

Jason Kidd is way better than Nash...Nash just has a better team than Kidd! I bet if the roles were switched than Kidd would be putting up the numbers as Nash is!!!

Kidd was robbed of one MVP, after improving his team's record by 26 wins and taking them to the finals. MVPs should never enter an argument, Michael Jordan had five but everyone knows he was the best player in the league while playing for the Bulls. Kidd in his prime, bigger, stronger, a much better defender (2 steals a game for Kidd to 0.8 for Nash) and all around better player with 85 triple doubles, I looked for triple doubles for Nash and couldn't find any stats for that, maybe because he doesn't have any. Here are their career averages.

Kidd - 14.6 ppg
9.2 apg
2.0 spg
6.6 rpg

Nash - 14.0 ppg
7.5 apg
0.8 spg
2.9 rpg

Over the course of his career JKidd was a better defeder, although after Kidd had microfracture surgery they've been about the same.

Nash is an infinitely better halfcourt player, for instance he and Dirk used to run the pick and roll to perfection.

Nash has always been a much better shooter, and scorer.

In transition, they have both been electric.

JKidd has been great for much longer, but at thier absolute best, Nash has no weaknesses on the offensive end whereas kid has (shooting and half court offense)
