My sister threw me a baby shower and played games such as
*baby find-a-word,
* memory ( a basket full of baby products, which each person got to look at for 20 sec then had to list them, the person with most on list wins),
*each person cut a piece of string to the length which they thought would go round my belly the closest won,
* she also made up forms for each person to fill out with baby details like boy or girl, weight, length, date, hair or no hair colour, straight or curly etc. the person that got the closest details won a bottle of wine.
* you can also get some tins of baby food and place small dollops on plates and guests taste each one and have to list the flavours with a point for each right ingredient.
* get each guest to bring a baby photo and others have to match baby to guest.

Here is a link http://www.babbee.com/ to a site which has game and recipe ideas.

Goodluck with party and best wishes to your sister

I had a themed Precious Moments shower, and we went out to the lake and BBQd hot dogs and hamburgers. I always thought that the games were a little silly, so I didnt want them. But the lake allowed for sight seeing, kept my friends kids occupied while giving me the option to swim if I wanted. I had a blast! And everyone who was there had fun too.

I got some little bubble-thingys and attached some little pink ribbons on it and had "its a girl lollipops" for favors, and at almost ANY party store they have a baby shower isle that will most definately have Precious Moments!

A new trend here is to have co-ed baby showers where the husband, uncles, and brothers- in-laws are invited to attend not just women. At one party, they had sheets folded like diapers with huge diaper pins, baby bottles with Kool Aid, Bibs and blind folds. They chose four men to compete. The object was to blindfold the men and have a race where they pour Kool Aid into the bottles and hold them between their teeth, put the diaper on and pin it, and tie on a bib. The winner was "supposed" to get a BIG SURPRISE! The surprise was that as soon as they blindfolded the first man, they only pretended to blindfold the others and the first man was competing against himself while everyone else made noise and cheered him on. It was hilarious. Just make sure you pick someone who has a VERY GOOD sense of Humor, preferably the FATHER. Have Fun and try not to do the same old things that everyone else does and you should have a memorable party.

Well.... you can play games around the theme... and have people purchase gifts around the precious moments theme as well... I am adding a link to a bunch of precious moments items... maybe something will jump out at you for game ideas. Google baby shower games and find ones you like... and try to incorporate the precious moment items in.

Hello!

Have you considered a diaper cake as the gift-table centerpiece? I make custom ones that can be designed to match the shower theme!!

Also...try some new games that are SWEET AND SENTIMENTAL. I have a page off of my website dedicated to some new games that are fun and dont' involve eating chocolate out of a diaper!!

Favors....how about bath salts that you personalize with the shower info?? There is a seller on Ebay....bare naked soap. She sells bath salts in bulk. Buy 10 pounds from her....and then divide them up into nice cellophane bags. Tie them with nice ribbon and then thread a label on the ribbon (before tying) that has the ingredients/directions on one side and all the fun Shower info on the other!! WHo doesn't love a great bath?? (I will put the link to her store below!!)

Prizes: Home Movie Night Gift Basket and Home Spa Gift Baskets are great prizes!!!

Have fun.....Surprise Showers are THE BEST!!!

When picking the favors for the guests, keep in mind the individual guests. We had a number of grandmothers there, and older moms, as well as young women. Most of the traditional baby shower favors were little plastic "toys" that weren't really gift-able. What's a grandmother going to do with a little plastic bootie? Therefore I chose pretty candles in the colors of the baby shower, little silver picture frames, little sachet packs. As for the games, I went online and googled: baby shower games, and there were tons of hits. I was able to design and print out the game sheets on my computer, but you can order them on line as well. Here, too, you need to take the ages of the guests into consideration. Most grandmothers aren't going to want to do silly or physical stuff.

The New Parents Game
Before the shower, ask the mom- and dad-to-be questions such as, "When is your birthday?" "Where were you born?" Divide the guests into tow teams, the "pink" team and the "blue" team. Pink team answers questions about the mm, blue answers questions about the dad. Correct answer earns 1 point. The team with the most points wins.
--------------------------------------------
Word Play
The mom-to-be will soon have old parenting adages like "Because I said so!" rolling off her tongue. Come up with a list of other sayings and make them into acronyms (for example MDGOT! {Money Doesn't Grow On Trees!}). Quickest answerer gets a point, most point wins (or alternate scoring, everyone writes down guesses and most right at the end wins).
--------------------------------
What's in the Bag?
Place several baby-related items (for example, bottle, rattle, pacifier) into separate brown paper bags. Staple the bags closed and number them. Players may shake, but not squeeze, the bags to determine what's inside. The player who gets the most right wins.
-----------------------------------
Rock-a-Baby
Divide guests into teams and challenge each team to write new lyrics to the tune of a familiar lullaby. Provide each team with a tape recorder or CD player, pen, and paper. When finished creating new lyrics, each team performs its song for the mom-to-be. Award prizes for the funniest lyrics, the best performance, and so on.
-----------------------------------
Good gifts include candles, lotions, gift cards, picture frames.

At my baby shower we...
1) Had races to see who could diaper a baby doll the quickest
2) Came up with our best baby tips
3) It was co-ed, so we saw which husband could make pudding, answer the phone, take a message, and clean the floor with a 15 pounds weight tied to their back.

You need many different candy bars and many diapers. Put a chunk of the candy bar in a diaper and set out so the candy melts just enough to look like you-know-what. Everyone takes turns guessing what flavor of candy bar is in each diaper.
