For future reference.. you should probably post your facial piercing questions in the tattoo section. Alot of the people that visit that forum are also pierced and can help you a little better....but anyway, I have my tongue pierced twice, and I love my tongue rings. When I first got it pierced, I had a lisp for a while, and it was kinda hard to get used to talking with a ball stuck to my tongue. It swelled up, but alot of ice minimized that. Once you get used to it, you wont even feel it, but the healing proccess kinda sucks.
Also, I've heard it can be damaging to your teeth too, but I've had my tongue pierced for over 6 years now and I've never had a problem. They make tongue rings with plastic balls so if you're worried about that, get one of those.

I got mine done in April of 2005 and haven't had any problems. I think it's fun. It didn't hurt getting it pierced, but it was a little sore afterward, and I had a big of a lisp for like two days but it wasn't anything extreme. I have swallowed a ball, not the whole thing. But that was because I had a cheap one from Claire's that wouldn't stay screwed on. Be sure to follow all of the piercer's instructions and you'll be fine. Metal ones have a higher risk of chipping your teeth. Make sure you go to a credible place. Also, make sure they check out your tongue to be sure that one vein isn't in the way, because if anything goes wrong with that it can hurt your heart and stuff. Good luck :)

Well i have had mine done for years, and let me tell you. I dont care who tells you it doesnt hurt.. thats bull B*** it hurts like H**L!!! They clamp your tongue, and shove the needle through, then they have to twist the balls on, and by this time your eyes are watering, and you just want to pull your tongue back in your mouth!!! Then the worst part comes the week after,.. your tongue swells up, there is nothing you can do to prevent swelling, you CANT eat cause it hurts way to bad, all you can do is suck on ice!! When I got hungry all I could do was cook those Ramen Noodles and drop the noodles down the back of my throat, cause having anything on your tongue hurts to bad!!! but after all the swelling goes down and you can finally enjoy it... you have to clean it EVERYDAY.. your tongue ring will stink and make you whole mouth stink if you dont clean it daily!! I love my tongue ring, but if my hole ever grew up I would NEVER do it twice, and I have 5 tattoos.. so Im not a P***Y
Good luck

It has not anything to do with orientation, actual a few do it for giving one other lady pride like men do, however i do know alot of directly women with tongue piercings...a piercing or tattoo can't exhibit if any individual is homosexual or now not.

I had mine done when i was 16.
Having your tounge pierced isnt as painful as it seems like it would be. You don't have as many nerve endings in the middle of your tounge. mine didnt hurt at all until it swelled... which is normal, and even then, it only felt like a lttle bruise
There should be no horror stories as long as you go to a good piercer... not your friend thats seen it done... and you follow the directions they give you!.
No french kisses... try not to smoke ( if you do... use the stuff they refer EVERYTIME) and whatever you do.... DONT SUCK THREW A STRAW!!!!!!!! hahaha... i totally spaced the day i got it done... felt like my tounge was gonna rip out of my head... I think its for two weeks after... but then you're good.

I have had my tongue pierced for about 4 years and to be honest, I completely forget that I have it done. It did not hurt to get it done but I will not lie to you...it hurt later on for a couple of days and swelled up to about twice the size. However, it was fun to be different rings and whatnot but eventually th ethrill fades and its no biggie.

i got mine done almost three years ago and now im 22 but when i got it actually pierced i didnt even feel it going in. but about a half an hour after that the pain kicks in because it gets really swollen. the pain lasts for about a week and a half and you should really only eat ice cream and soft food. i tried to eat a hot dog and it took me close to two hours haha. but after that week and a half it gets better.

I got mine pierced when I was 16 and LOVED it! I'm 24 now and don't normally wear it but I still have the hole so I do put it in every now and then.

I've had mine done since December, and my husband has had his done for years. It is very uncomfortable and hard to get used to at first, but it quickly goes away.
We (my husband and I) enjoy ours very much! But it's not for everyone. I've also been told that it can chip the back of your teeth after having it for awhile.
