For our english class we have to type a page and a 1/2 essay over what the expression "the finish line is just the beginning of another race," means. I have a few ideas but can't really think of enought to equal the minimal amount. Anyone help? Thanks much love.

You could talk about DEMOCRACY.
How the finish line only creates ONE winner. BUT we live in a democracy where the majoity rules and LOSERS count as well.
Write a paragraph about how nice it is to live in a democracy, because no ONE person can force us to do things, where votes do count, where there are things (entertainment, fun, sport, food, help) for all types of people.
A short paragraph could say how in a race of 20 people there are 19 who do not win. When they leave the finishing line what do THEY do?
You could say how our world DEPENDS on so many people who are NOT winners.
Lots of examples - most important - our cities would DIE PAINFULLY if we did not have garbage collectors ( garbage = off refuse = RATS = disease = SICKNESS = pain = DEATH of towns)
Doctors tend to be winners but nurses do most of the work.
Shop owners win at making the money BUT shop workers keep the business running.
The principal of a school is the winner boss person but the students ( and ordinary teachers) make the school a sucess.
You could write until you have written enough about how we need winners and LOSERS.
You could conclude by saying that the finish line may not be the end for the winner BUT it is DEFINETELY not the end for all those who LOST and went on to KEEP our WHOLE WORLD going.
TAKE CARE

Well Cassie I see others have some good ideas about how getting through primary school to elementary to high school and maybe college . Or the start of a new vocation. Because after each race is run to complete one goal another goal is set and the race is on to complete it.Same in racing sports. With horses after finishig one race they are then conditioned for the net race, whether it be a shorter track or a longer race. The boys in NASCAR are loading up the trailers for the next race after finishing up at one track o go to another and the way they race they have to set the car up different for each track. Same way we must try to set up ourselves for our next goal in life

Lessee....

when you complete school, you start your whole career...
dating culminates in marriage, which is it's pwn journey...

lotsa stuff in that theme. To go a little more outside the box, you could look at things that were resolved, but then new problems emerged, such as:

Antibiotics did wonders for preventing infections that were deadly 100 yrs ago (don't know exact dates offhand), but now new resistant strains are making a comeback... how to deal?

Hope it helps!

Once you overcome one battle or struggle you will have many more to come. Each triumph you have leads you another direction where you will have to conquer different things.

You can take the death-leading-to-Heaven angle. Good luck.
