I plan on spending around $1,000 on either a laptop or a desktop. I was wondering if I'd get a better deal by getting a laptop or a desktop. I'm guessing a desktop would be a better choice because you're pretty much paying more for the portability and the size when you buy a laptop. Any help would be appreciated.

i would prefer a laptop. with 1000 you can buy a very decent laptop that works just like a desktop. desktops arent as stylish anyways. and desktops take up a lot of room.

You're better off getting a laptop because it's portable, unlike a desktop.

I prefer laptops because I like commodity, I don't have to deal with all those cables.
That's why I bought me an HP with integrated webcam and mic, I can use it on the sofa recliner, or in my bed.
The battery only gives me 2 hours but I don't mind cause plug it on the wall most of time, and I have a 2 in 1 modem-router

But if you don't mind all those desktops cable headaches get one, they always will give you a better performance

Depends what you want the computer for. Usually a desktop you will be able to get more performance for a lower price since you do not have to focus on portability, battery life, etc.

I have a toshiba laptop and its great! If you mainly don't travel much then buy a desktop..but buy a laptop if you like the idea of working anywhere in your home and travelling with it like I do.

laptops are not expensive anymore. you can buy a good one for less than $600. Shop around ebay for a new with warranty laptop. No one should be buying anymore desktop.

Well, if you travel a lot, it is best to get a laptop. But, if you do not travel much, get a desktop.

A laptop
