OK, I have two questions. First; did Derek come from Seattle before New York? He told Meredith he didn't, but Dr Webber knew Addison and knew Derek was married to her.
Second; why doesn't Izzie like her mother? I think I missed something.

Those are good questions. Luckily I am dark and twisty and pay a lot of attention to things like this. Richard was an attending back when Addison and Derek were Interns. Now Richard appears to have always been in Seattle Grace so that implies that Preston, Derek and Addison learned there stuff in Seattle and then Derek and Addison moved back to New York. I say this because Adelle and the kids seem to have been in the Seattle area all of the children's lives. So, I have to say this is not the first time for either of them to be in the area. Now for the Izzie question and this one is equally as difficult to answer. Izzie is the product of a single mother who raised her in the projects while working in a diner at nights to pay the bills. Izzie wound up getting pregnant when she was 16 and looked to be following in her mother's foot steps but she wound up giving up Sophia for adoption and then getting a job as a lingerie model to pay her way through college and med school. My thoughts are that either Izzie was raped by her mother's boyfriend, or her mother did not want her to gie up the baby, or most likely just the thought of her mother being in that diner all those years reminds Izzie of the child she gave up and how her life would have been like her mother's if she didn't give Sophia up for adoption. It seems that Izzie loves her mother but she just does not want to talk to her for fear Sophia will be brought up. Let's face it, at some point she had to have told her mother that she did not want to grow up to be like her. And on the rape thing, she was 16 and even if it was consentual it was statutory rape. Plus she seems to be drawn to the good boy, men who make her feel safe over those who make her feel sexually satisfied. Denny and George over Alex. If I am right and Izzie will turn out pregnant this story will come back out again and she may go visit her mother.

Chief Webber and his wife knew the Sheppard family way back when they lived in NY, I'm not really sure how but it was basically a promise made to Derek from the chief that brought him to Seattle that her would someday become chief himself. He promised the same thing to Dr. Burke. Izzie grew up in a trailer, had no money and modeled to pay for her college loans. I'm wondering if they will bring her family in IF she doesn't go on Addison's new spin off show. I sure hope she takes Mark Sloane with her!! I am also HAPPY that Mare Winningham is on (Meridith's "step-mother").

Izzy's mum is a trailer park trash mommy
she didnt help izzy during her teenage years with schooling etc
she made izzy do underwear modeling to pay her way through school and uni...
