we've been friends since we were 13. we're now 29. he's had a girlfriend for a lot of years. We wrongly slept together last year. I stopped seeing him for a year to get away from the situation. I've now recently thought we were safe to see each other again, and frankly, we're not. It's so painful. The problem is, if it was anyone else I'd walk away, as it's wrong. he's got a girlfriend. But he's also someone I share such a huge history with, i can't just cut him out of my life. I'm so confused. any help would help at this point...

He has to know that you are in love with him, unless, he's completely blind. A good friend will not let you 'dangle' not if he loves you. He should tell you straight OUT that he is IN LOVE with this other woman and that he will always love you AS A FRIEND...PERIOD!! Otherwise, he is like a cat with a mouse...not fair. If he can't be plain with you (he's two timing, let's face it!), then you be strong! "Cut him loose" until you genuinely fall in love with someone else! THEN, pick up you friendship again.

P.S. There is another, feeling, human being in all this...his real girlfriend!!

I think you should either talk to him about this or else make excuses to stay away from him again. You need to try to get out more and find someone else if you know there is no future in seeing him other than as a friend.

Tell him that you think it is wrong, and ask him to help keep the temptations low. If the two of you were to get together, just think, if he cheated on her, then what would keep him from enflicting the same pain onto you?

It sounds like he's got something for you too.

How about being honest with him and telling him how you feel about him? If he tells you that he feels nothing beyond friendship, then you'll finally know for sure that you need to stay away from him.
