If I was Truman, Eisenhower or Kennedy then I would think that I was doing a wonderful thing by helping the South Vietnamese. I was winning their hearts and minds, helping them build their country and helping them contain communism.

If I was Johnson, then I would wish Kennedy was not assassinated and make me become president. I would also smack McNamera silly for convincing me to fabricate the Gulf of Tonkin incidents so I could convince the senate and congress in allowing me to send hundreds of thousands of troops to fight and die in a war that I had no intention of winning.

If I was Nixon, I would think about how much of an idiot Johnson was in getting our country in this mess in the first place and thank God that Kissinger was able to convince the Chinese to ally with us and pave the way to finally get our combat troops out of Vietnam.

If I was Ford, I would wish that congress would allow me the opportunity to kick the North Vietnamese in the teeth one time real good with a short but massive bombing campaign on Hanoi and Haiphong, which would convince them without any doubt that the U.S. will back South Vietnam if they invade as our country had promised.

If I was South Vietnamese President Diem, I would slap my sister-in-law silly for not being able to shut her big mouth and then kick her in the butt in hopes that will knock her brains back into her skull. If I did that, then I would think that I would be alive today instead of being assassinated.
