Best sailboat design for circumnavigation?

Question

Have been doing some high-level searching and found very little free info on the subject. Looking for advice and/or thoughts and opinion on length and design of a liveaboard bluewater cruiser capable of circumnavigation. Crew of two. Up to four passengers. Thanks!

Around 40 foot, medium displacement, some consider full keel better, blue water boat needs to consider: wire size, redundancy in equipment and rigging,(double head stay, back stay, inner stay, running back stays) wire or solid rigging, room on deck for a life raft, are port lites small, interior space not too open, many grab rails inside, not excessive space in cockpit to hold water, sufficient cockpit drains, keel stepped mast, sufficient righting moment , some people like a double ender to keep from getting pooped, would it recover from a full roll over (flatness of topsides)?

That's sort of small for a Monohull for 4 people if they are all adults... so the Multihull may be more roomy for that many people. My sailboat is 38 feet and there is just me and at times, it's too small when I'm living on it for 7 months every year in the Caribbean

Look at the Beneteau Oceans 473, the Beneteau 50, 52 or 57. These are all beautiful stable yachts that would easily take you around the globe. They are easy to sail, look great, and peform well, if you ever want to race them. They have all of the comforts of home, they are great to sail and verry practical. You can get things like a water maker added to them so that you never run out of fresh water while you are on your trip. Look at a mono hull that is around the 47 to 57 foot mark. Beneteau's are great yachts and would easily meat the challenge of going around the world. Cats are not stable sea boats because they rock and pivot more on the ocean than a mono hull does, more people get seasick on a cat than a mono.

There is a lot of information available on the subject of long range cruising and living aboard. Check out Liveaboard Magazine, Cruising World Magazine, Latitudes & Attitudes and the annual boat tests done by Sail magazine. There are as many 'best' cruising boats as there are cruising sailors!!!

First I would check with Lyle Hess,N.A.. He designed the Pardey's boats. Next, I would check you and your crew to see if you are up to this. You are not talking about a stroll thru the park, but a terrifying experience thru wind and wave, not a place for the faint of heart. But from here, best of luck!!!!!!!

For stability and ruggedness,a catamaran.At least 45/50 ft.I would also suggest you crew with some else for YEARS and get your master's rating before you even THINK about trying this!!! Sure, the trip sounds adventurous and romantic but you are likely to get yourself and the people with you KILLED if you aren't up to the challenge!
