or instead of just their name. I know they must do so in a medical setting, but what I meant (but didn't state) was why they insist on doing so in all other places when no one gives a rat's behind if he/she is a doctor. THAT's what bugs me...I got some nasty replies from my first question so just thougt I 'd say what I REALLY meant to say in the first place.

any normal human being loves to show-off if possible, especially if they worked so hard for it... so likely they think they've EARNED the doctorate and should be treated like one all the time... maybe it's just an ego problem they have... if you encounter this, why don't you just meet up with these kind of people less frequently? or just don't let it eat you up!

yes, it would be irritating to hear it when you happen to be in a don't-give-a-d a m n-mood. so best is just stay away from such people if you know them or such places if they usually go there, then you won't be affected so much :D
