If you've ever seen the video "Say it Right" by Nelly Furtado, the scenes where she has those bangs? I had those bangs as a child and they fell out as I got older, and my mother thinks that it will be cute if I get them. But see, theres this girl at school and she is the only one in our school with these bangs, she is also in my grade but I don't want her to think I am copying her. We have like no relationship now, but we've been best friends last year, things are kind of awkward between us. Anyways, I've been put in the position that although copying is flattering, I don't like it because I like my own unique style. I've been going to the same salon since 3rd grade so they'll know if I should get it or not. I just want to know is there any way that I can make her feel like I'm doing this out of my own and mother's opinions instead of hers, without going up to her?

Thank you so much,

&♥; sarah

I already have side swept bangs, and I don't like highlights because I like my natural color and I want to keep it that way, but thanks you guys! This is great.

Okay, so your MOTHER wants you to get those bangs....but do YOU want them? That is the real question here. YOU are the one who has to wear them, so decide first if it's something you really want.

Whenever I get a new hairstyle with bangs, the first few days I pin them to the side, so that people see that something is slightly different, but it's not really dramatic. Then after a few days I let them down, and people have already gotten used to the idea and it really isn't a big deal.
I don't know how that will help in your case, the only thing I can say is to get them, but try not to get them exactaly the same as the other girl's. Style them a little differently, get them cut a little different. Get the look you want, but alter it a bit, so that it IS your own unnique style. Nelly's bangs are really cute, I think you should go for it.
Good Luck!

although those bangs may look good on some people, i think it's a way too high fashion look for an average girl. i think u should get pretty heavy side-swept bangs. they look great on everyone and u won't be copying that other girl in ur grade. o and u should maybe get a strand or two of highlights that would look good on u on ur side bangs so ur adding ur own touch of creativity! good luck nd hope i helped!

Yeah, you should get those bangs. You could prove to her how much better you would look then her and she could think that exact same thing and get mad, but who cares?? I would because I would show her how much better I look in bangs than she does. She may also feel a little better and she may think that she is a trend-setter and like that.
