They are great for mileage, but it seems that guys look ridiculous on them. I would much rather ride a motorcycle, with more power and probably safer in traffic. For around campus or beach, or even a short commute in the city - they are ideal - no special licensing or tag required (varies with each state).
Also consider a small motorcycle, like a Honda or Kawasaki 250 as an alternative.

I had one and I loved it!! it was a blue 2005 Yamaha Zuma that went up to 40 MPH (55 going downhill). It cost me about $4.00 in gas each week when gas was about $2. 30 a gallon. Guys would talk smack sometimes, til their girlfriend wanted to go for a ride!

I rode one in college. I used to get picked on about it. Like the old joke says: Mopeds are like fat girls...they're fun to ride as long as no one sees you.
But you can't beat the gas mileage

good economic transport, but your first accident is usually your last. very dangerous no matter how well you drive, people just don't look out for a vehicle of that size...they can look right at you; full eye-eye contact & still pull out in front of you or turn in to you.
I have seen it played out many times in the ER & at the F.D. and everyone of them that could still talk said, "i just never thought it would happen to me."
I know its cheap transportation, but if you can, get something that protects you better.

i neighbor has one, he has a little trailer he pulls behind it, he has long hair to his knees,he dresses very nicely.I love to see him riding along.i wish i wasn't so tall and large are i would get one.people should ride things like that are bikes to the store and save on gas consumption.I ride my bike, and sometimes walk to the stores for my health and saving of gas

Not any use to us in Michigan with six months of winter. You take your life in your hands the other six months with the idiot drivers here on the road.

They save gas, getting really high MPG but you look foolis riding them.

I think they should be fun....i've never sat on one! I just hate it when people that are driving it...get in your way when you'er driving a car...blaghh!!

i think they are wonderful if you live downtown. If you are in suburbia and it's your only form of transportation, that would suck during the rain.
