No, it is fair, since Simon owns and produces American Idol and if it wasn't for the show, these kids wouldn't have even had the opportunity to have won.

I personally cannot stand Mr. Cowell I think he is an arrogant self oppinionated crettin who as the lable says 'Mr. Nasty' which is exactly what he is I think he is a horrible horrible man who think hurting people is what he thinks is entertainment.
Ok some people do not have the talent but there are ways of telling people that when they sing they sound like a cat being doctored.
Mr. Cowell owns the rights to the shows both in the UK Pop Idol and American Idol. Recently in the UK they have changed the judging panel and the way votes are done. What I really think is that the judges in the UK do not always agree with Simon on his opinions and argue with him about it a lot so Simon has taken the decision to axe Louie Walsh from the show not sure but I think he may have also axed Sharon Osbourne from the show aswell.
I personally do not watch talent show on tv because I hate them I think the tv companies are running out of ideas to entertain us on prime time Saturday nights.
And anyway how long do these winners stick around in the charts before they are dumped once they have made one record and the record company has no intentions of signing them on. The only one to really come of this a winner is Simon Cowell he's making millions out of these shows.

what is your source.? I understood that the idols winner only gets a contract for one year. And I wasn't aware that they were not able to write their own songs but it certainly wouldn't be for 10 years. Now you make me want to research this. I may be back.

They don't sign a ten year contract. And even if they did, they know what they are on the show for and the know what the winner gets. So yeah, I'd say it's fair. It's not like anybody would know who they are if it weren't for the show anyway.

I think it's unfair to everyone that Simon Cowell ever gets to inflict himself upon the music business. Nothing good can ever come of it.
