This is just my opinion and I am English.
I think our society is generally quite private and we show little of our true thoughts and feelings. Our society is also VERY judgemental so fear of others opinions about us is common and takes some getting over.
We spend too much time considering our status and not enough time enjoying life and being with those we love. We are too afraid to show our cards for fear of looking foolish and we often lack the warmth to show how much we care.
Life's too short to be afraid of being honest and open.
A lot of us criticise the Americans for being obvious and shallow, and it does some Americans good to live in the UK for a while. However, Americans can be much more open and honest than us. It's this that leads them to be gullible to media manipulation. We trust little at all.
We could learn so much from the French, Italians and Spanish.

Being Embarrassed wasn't a word just invented for (and by) the English...to be embarrassed is a natural instinct in every one of us...if you never got embarrassed about something you'd either be overly arragont or even inhuman
