At 11 days old you need to call your doctor. Sounds like your baby is not getting enough liquids.

Just what do you consider "constipation" in an 11-day old newborn? Is it just not having a BM or does your baby have gas pains and a hard stomach? Check with your pediatrician for any concerns with your newborn at this early stage. Some breastfed babies can go a week without a BM. A water bottle is usually safe. Again, check with your pediatrician.

If your newborn is only 11 days old, how do you know he/she is constipated? Newborns poo is VERY sporatic and I would say call the Dr. if he/she hasn't pooped for a week or so. Every three days is normal, especially if you are using formula. I wouldn't worry, and I wouldn't give him/her much of anything without Dr. supervision, he/she is TOO little to handle most things still! Good Luck

You might want to talk to your doctor... my son had the smae thing wrong with him and turned out it was the formula... There really isnt anything you can give a baby OTC except pediatric suppositories but the baby can become dependent on them... Talk to your doctor could be the formula giving your little one a hard time...

you should check with your health visitor but when my son was constipated i was advised to give a little cool boiled water and when that didn't work to add a teaspoon of fresh orange juice to 1floz of cool boiled water. Good luck x

my babies doctor advised
1 (ONE) teaspoon of clear Karo syrup in 1 (ONE) oz of water OR formula--they can have it one time per day.
anymore than that dosage will give the baby BAD gas/belly pains

Take his or her temp rectally. I don't know why it works, but it does.
