OK, I am a political conservative, how far to the right depends on what you are talking about, but I NEVER ingore science.
I majored in Physics in collage, and, while I am employed as an engineer, I do follow the current theories/discoverys in physics, cosmology, biology, and others.
I do ignore psudo science, in fact, I often ridicule it as it deserves (Bill Kaysing and his ilk), nor do I accept current "scientific" theories becuase they are popular and reported by a one sided press (man made global warming. No one has ever shown me how man can cause global warming when one decent volcano put out more "greenhouse" gasses then man ever could).
I am concerned about some environmental issues (deforestation can become a major problem in a few centuries).
Oh yea, and I also believe that man did go to the moon and not that it is some sort of goverment hoax. But I have the science to back that up.
Now, how far right am I? I don't know, but almost everything I say, here or anywhere (except for humor), has science to back it up.

Why do you assume all right-wingers "make a point of ignoring science"?

For some odd reason they think that Christianity and Science have to combat each other. When, in fact, God gave us science, and He gave us brains to think with. He wants us to use both, in order to discover all His wonders.

You mean about man being the cause of global warming and your champion Al Gore, when asked about previous global warming and cooling before man was capable of being blamed, answered "The earth has a fever".? Is that what you mean?

both sides ignore science at their extremes and most politicans do from time to time because its uncomfortable, and they believe it will make their supporters unhappy.

As far as I can tell, it's because none of them managed to pass a science course in school.

The very essence of right-wing politics is to ignore any reality, if it gets in the way of the profit motive.
