For my urban studies class were preparing for a “militarization of space debate”

SO MY TEAM HAS TO DEBATE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT-
AND DISAGREE WITH SECURITY CHECKS AND BE AGAISNST THEM.

Security checks,
Increased security checks at airports-even when targeted at people of particular racial, national, ethnic or religious backgrounds-have nothing to do with racism. These procedures are necessary for national security.

What is your main message?
What are the key issues, values or principles at stake? How can you highlight them>
What counter arguments do you expect and how will you respond

So please give me some reasons why there should NOT – be any security checks,
And why you are against security checks at airports.

PLEASE HELP

First, if you are preparing for a debate, you should be asking for arguments both FOR and AGAINST your position. That way you are better prepared to rebut your opponents arguments.
My real question is: What do security checks at airports have to do with “militarization of space”?

I suppose they are time consuming and sometimes airports have taken a customer's joke as gospel and held them back for hours for security checks etc just because they made a joke...which in most cases was clearly a joke.

Since 9/11 the security checks have had to be increased and I suppose they do focus more on people of a certain race, figures have shown that. It can be degrading for people of a certain race who are totally innocent and are only being checked because of their colour.

Even though security check are imporant it also ivades the normal Americans privacy. Also if someone is caugth with something it holds up your time to get where you're going. Also it might make you forget imporant info that you need, like where you put your ticket, or where to get picked up. Well thats about all I got so far till next time.
