I don't believe this and in my science book and the stuff my teacher is teaching me I've found many errors and faults. Does anyone agree with me and if you don't can you give me some fool proof evidence about it. and don't say sea-floor spreading because the crust goes back into the deep ocean trenches.

Wait a few million years until the subcontinent of India is subducted under the Asian continent and the western edge of California becomes an island (which will be all of San Andreas' fault). The sea floor does spread and the the crust does go back into trenches and take continents with it. Fossilized evidence from Antarctica conclusively shows that it was located in a tropical region.

You don't believe in pangea, but are unwilling to give planet expansion theory a shot? An odd bit of selective skepticism.

I'm confused; how can you believe in subduction (the crust going back into the mantel), but not continental drift? If the crust is subducting, either the planet is shrinking or there are also places where the crust is expanding.

If the crust is expanding in some places, and being subducted in others, then it MUST be moving! You cannot believe in subduction unless you also believe either the crust is 'moving' or the planet is shrinking.

As further evidence, you can see similar species of animals on land masses that have not been connected for some time. Since Australia fragmented early, it has species that do not exist anywhere else (platypus and other monotremes).

I am wondering what you are calling errors and faults in this theory.

It is accepted that each of the major continents is sitting on a plate. The plate is floating on the molten mantle of the planet. Due to uneven heating, these plates move in different directions and create 'hot zones' of earthquake and volcanic activity. Even if a place is not on the margins of a plate, it is possible that there is a weakness in the crust that allows for hot material from the mantle to approach the crust like in Yellowstone National Park.

This is one theory I believe is accurate.

Why don't you believe in continental drift? Are you some kind of creationist Bible thumper? Sea floor spreading at mid-ocean ridges is a fact, subduction zones are a fact. Here is a line of proof...you will have to do the research and reading - it called geomagnetic reversals..it was the first and is the most definitive evidence of sea floor spreading. If you deny this, you as big a fool as I think you are.

It is good that you are questioning things, but you chose the wrong theory not to believe.

Take the atlantic. you can see that the coastal shelf of the americas and africa fit together like a jigsaw. Also the rock patterns on each side of the puzzle match too - which is ultimate proof.

The mid atlantic ridge and the range of oceanic mountains created buy sea floor spreading are also there for everyone to see.

The hymalayas are also rising.

Australia is slowly tilting.

The evidence is there for everyone to see and measure.

OpNic is astute...yo seem to have reached a conclusion that wont 'fly', and are trying to force it to work.

Your theory is in need of re-evaluation...read his answer one more time.

if u look at a map, you can sort of tell that the continents use to fit together. look at south america and afrcia. it looks as if SA use 2 fit in A.
