You might try a quillow. That's a small quilt that folds into a pillow for storage. I love mine.

Try pillows. They're easy. You sew squares together inside out, turn them, and stuff them. Be sure to leave an opening for your hand, then sew that up once it's been stuffed. Bolster pillows are fun, too. You take a piece of fabric that's about once-and-a-half or twice as long as it is wide, sew the long sides together to make a tube, leaving and opening for your hand so you can turn it and stuff it. Before you turn it rightside out, tie the ends off from the inside. Use heavy string. Turn it rightside out, stuff it, and sew up your hand opening. This makes a really fun pillow for different uses, depending on the size you make it. Big ones are great floor pillows for watching TV, medium ones are fun on top of your bed for decoration or sitting against, while little ones are nice on the sofa.

You can make a purse, pillows, skirt, top, baby quilt, pants, wall hanging, dress, tote bag, reusable grocery bag, stuffed animal, placemats, doll clothes, baby crib bumper, and so on.

Go to a fabric store and look at pattern books to find three things to make. Choose patterns that say "easy to make" or something similar if you are a beginner.
