I'm fed up with my ex trying to get the better of me all the time. Trouble is I don't always react that quick and think when its too late.

Some people including my x takes great joy in trying to wind me up, in the past ive always bitten back, and im sure thats exactly what he wants... now.. i bite my tounge, pull faces to myself as hes crapping on to me on the phone lol, anything to stop myself to reacting to exactly how he wants me too... its taken some time and self control, but it did work, when he realized he wasnt going to get the bite, he backed off a bit.

The best way you can react is to get on with your life, and show him how much you are not missing him. Go out, meet other people, and just don't be available for him to even wind you up.

If you're out enjoying yourself with other people, he can't exactly wind you up, can he? He'll always manage to wind you up if you don't move on with your life.

Totally forget about him! And if he is saying things to you or others about you and you are being told he said this that and the other do your total best to ignore and not even saying about how u feel to those people! He will soon stop it as they will realise it doesnt affect you! When i say soon it may be a month but as that time goes on it will get less and less!!

Doreen,

You'll want to act entertained or NOT!

When you respond, laugh if you like the wind-up effort....
if you don't like it:
YAWN and say "That was almost funny!!"
"Perhaps, you could try some more mature humor?"

You are the audience! They are the comic on stage.

Give examples of more entertaining folks they should emulate!

If there is no good reason for you to be around him then avoid his sorry self. If you have to see him for whatever reason just say I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention did you say something?" Sometimes when someone is really yanking my chain I yawn as if they are boring me then say "oh I'm sorry I didn't hear you..." The only person who can make you feel inferior is you....don't give anyone else that power over you!

Hi, deep breaths !!! I had the same problem a few years ago, and scarcisim, done me the world of good! Be smart, laugh at him, dont let him get to you, cos he knows what buttons to press! if he rings, laugh & hang up, take him with a pinch of salt. trust me, he wont like it.. and will soon get the message. you dont need him in your life or his childish games! you go girl !!!

Once I have figured out that they are doing that I either laugh at their attempts, which really winds them up, or I totally ignore them, which makes them mad, too.

Sometimes, having a few clever replies already at hand can do wonders to shut them up.

I get mad. I do not appreciate it at all when people try to get the best of me or take advantage of my feelings. It's just not right. At all.
