What makes you think that the Police don't know about it already? Just because you don't see much happening doesn't mean the Police aren't taking action toward stopping their behaviour if what you say is true. Most Policing in the UK nowadays is Intelligence led, which means the Police will collate as much information as they possibly can about individuals and groups before taking decisive action. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, the Police had their power of discretion over charging removed. It is now down to the Crown Prosecution Service to decide who gets charged and who doesn't. This has added more work to an already overburdened Police Force who now have to make sure they have ample evidence for a charge to stick before the CPS will consider Prosecution. Secondly, the Police will want to gather as much evidence as possible so that a defence brief is going to have a hard time defending them in Court and getting them off the charge. Gathering this evidence takes time because drug dealers operate in very stealthy ways and it can be extremely hard to catch them in the act.
You don't say what action you have taken with regard to this situation. Have you called the Police and given them information they can use? Have you spoken to your local Area Beat Officer about this? Don't assume because you know what is happening in your area that the Police know as well. You'll be surprised at how many people don't call the Police because they'll assume someone else will do it. I have first hand experience of this because I used to live in a neighbourhood with a lot of low level criminal activity going on. Even though I worked for the Police I didn't want to identify myself to my neighbours so I would call my colleagues to deal with issues that went on. When I then went in to work I would look on our systems and find that I had been the only one to call an incident in even though there had been numerous other witnesses to what went on.
Finally, I find your comments to be mildly offensive. It sounds as though you have already arrived at a conclusion with regard to the Police but how much do you know of modern Police techniques, policies and procedures? I invite you to take some time and come look at the following sites and you will see how disheartened, disatisfied, disillusioned and demoralised the majority of British Coppers are at present. You have a right to know what is being done on YOUR behalf to YOUR Police Service by the current government. I strongly reccomend to you and anyone else reading this to look at these sites and if you feel as outraged as the rest of us in the job then sign the petition at the bottom of the Real Policing Homepage.

Unfortunately in the UK there is a little legal stumbling block that solicitors and barristers love to use to obstruct the Police every day. They insist that the Police actually have some evidence of the drugs dealing not just rumours and innuendo. I know its a pain but this evidence thing keeps the lawyers, judges and Court admin staff in jobs filing, arguing about, checking and re-filing the evidence.

Because the people who live in that neighborhood don't make an effort to do anything. Call the police, form a neighborhood watch and get a coupla hundred people out on the streets walking around, visiting each other, socializing....
The people who sell drugs and use them won't stay where great numbers of people hang out.

I think the modern day police force is disheartened, because the police catch the criminals and the law lets them off with i slap on the wrist.

i reckon its because the police arnt bothered in fact they know full well whats going on and do nothing about it because its easier to turn a blind eye and that means less paperwork for them also many drug dealers remain unhindered by police as they often keep police infomed about the very people they sell to.thus the police get to score high percentages on figures for drug arrests ,whilst the dealers remain immune from arrest .

In my experience police only tackle something if they know they'll get results with little effort. Pete Doherty has been openly doing drugs for years yet he's still walking the streets.

i think maybe you shouldnt ask to many questions, for your own good. there is a good chance that the police or some form of organized crime might have something to do with protecting whats goin on there. if you think that there arent crooked cops out there, you are wrong. and if you get in the way of people making money... you might get hurt.
