I mean, Whats the reason for any other fashion? usually there isnt a logical reason. If people find them comfy, thats one thing, but with other fashion, especially women's and cocktail attire, its really uncomfy but its the fashion, and doesn't even look that nice sometimes. There really is no good, straight answer. sorry.

flip-flops are different. they're waterproof, slip on, and cheap. They're good for beaches to keep sand out and to air out your feet when they get wet in the water and then to keep sand off your wet feet and not burn your toes on hot sand. They're nice for pools too so little kids don't slip on the slick floors (especially tile indoor pools) when they've gotten out and their feet are slippery. Its also easier to not track water everywhere, especially into your house, that way.

Well, they're really comfortable when the weather is hot. I can't imagine wearing anything else in the summertime!
