If a member of my family is in debt, and they cannot maintain payments while they are in talks with the Citizen Advice Bureau, does the bank to which the money is owed have the right to take my money, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, from my own account, keeping in mind I have an account with the same bank, and the address on the account is the same address as that of the family member in debt?

I don't think they can take your money even if YOU were the one in debt. At least in the US, a bank can only sue you or mess up your credit. I don't think anyone can just withdraw money from a bank account even if money is owed to them. Oh wait, you say the debt is owed to the same bank you have an account with? I don't know then... That is if the debt was yours. Since it is not, you have nothing to worry about.

If your in the UK not unless Ur married (because then Ur finance's are linked). if they did it is theft because you are not response able for any other family members finances, it's against the banking code to do that.

I would VERY much doubt they can take your money. Your accounts are completely seperate regardless of which address you are registered.
