That argument has been going on for years and will continue for many more. I personally think that, overall, the SEC is the toughest conference to have an undefeated season in. The Big Ten is also a good conference but has mainly two or three really tough teams and a lot of also rans. The SEC also has it's perennial also rans such as Miss., Kentucky, Miss St. and Vandy. However the rest of the conference is strong and subject to upsetting the front runners any time they meet. When you have to play 7 or 8 teams in your conference, every year, who have the potential to beat you it's very hard to go undefeated. In the Big Ten once you get past Ohio State, Michigan and in an occasional year Wisconsin, Minnesota or Iowa the rest of the conference are mostly .500 teams. You just never see six or eight teams in the Big Ten who can vie for the conference title. However in the SEC that's quite common.

I dont mean to be facetious, but for those who are advocating for the Big ten, I would just like to ask if you watched the national championship game this year? An SEC team that had to barely win over the lower teams in the conference and had one loss, that was given no chance, WAXED the team that was supposed to be God's gift to college football this year. In just the SEC EAST there are three coaches at the six schools that have won national championships in the past 10 years. The reason that SEC does not make it out untouched is because on any given saturday, you could be facing Meyer, Spurrier, Fulmer, Richt, Saban, or Tuberville. All of these coaches are amazing, but getting out of the SEC without 2 losses is almost impossible! I really do not even see the comparison. I would say that the top 6 SEC schools could beat any Big ten school just on the basis of coaching alone, not to mention the amazing players. Just ask Troy Smith, when Florida's defensive lineman can outrun "athletic" QBs who are half their size, there is something that Big ten people do not see everyday. I mean the fact that they had to beat South Carolina by blocking a game winning FG in the swamp, then blowing out the "powerhouse" Buckeyes should speak of the SEC as dominant.

Since moving to the South three years ago, I must agree the SEC has to be considered the best conferest. The main factor is consistency. Year after year, they will usually have at least one team compete for the championship, with numerous teams competing in bowls. The history behind these schools is incredible. The names of Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, and LSU alone illustrate the depth of this league. the home crowds are noisy, and the passion of SEC fans create an environment like no other. A visiting team winning in an SEC school more often then not would have to be considered an upset. The SEC is the most consistent in terms of dempth and talent.

yes they are more quality teams and as for the big 10 the gators proved what a joke that conference was in the national championship game the sec had more bowl eligible teams than any other conference. the buckeyes could not match floridas speed or match up with all the weapons they had offensively not to mention the defense for the gators dominated the line of scrimmage to even think the buckeyes could have even made the game close is a joke please no matter how much time they had off they would have still got dominated in every aspect of the game.

Without a doubt!!! Just look at how many SEC teams end up in bowl games year after year. Then look at the SEC's record against teams from other conferences in bowls over the last 30 years. That's why the PAC-10 and Big -10 teams don't want a playoff. Those two conferences don't even play a conference championship game.So every year thats one less tough match-up for their top teams.Ohio State couldn't beat Florida.Just think if they had to play Fla.,LSU,Tenn.,Aurburn,Ark.,
S.Carolina,Georgia,Ala.year after year.

Hell yeah!! The SEC speed and power defense can kill! Just look at what the D did to the Buckeyes. My friend is a HUGE Buckeye fan and I told him it was going to be tough but the D of the SEC can run with any offense with any team in any conference.

SEC is the best. But, I think Big Ten would be doing alot better in their Football Bowl games if they wouldnt schedule only 12 games, and have them all finished before Thanksgiving. While its good for the students, they havent been faring so well in their Bowl Games. PAC 10 plays until mid December and I think 13 games, same with SEC. If Big Ten played 13 games, and played until mid December, then my Ohio State Buckeyes wouldve won that National Title Game 41-14, instead of losing 41-14. The past is done though, but the Buckeyes are going to win it all in Basketball!
GO OHIO STATE BUCKEYES!

I didn't think so until today. I just heard on the radio that the SEC is going to try to convince the BCS to start some kind of playoff format. Anyone who can get it done is the best.
