Well, I lived in one place ... same town, same house, for 25 years to raise my family. I wanted my children to have the stability of living in one area, not having to deal with a lot of inflicted change, and to feel secure in their surroundings.
When they were adults, I made changes in my own life, moved into an RV, and plan to never stay in one place for long again. Ever! LOL!!

you mean like their home?
gosh, there are tons of benefits.
it brings down your credit score each time a new address is listed.
the value of your property will only increase in time, even with market fluxuations, you will still come out on top over 20 years time. furthermore, in some locations there is a hold on your property taxes at the rate they were when you moved in.
moving is a costly endeavour. boxes, tape, movers, new deposits for utilities, time spent packing and changing addresses.
stability.
if you are renting rather than owning, there is a cap on how much they can increase your rent after each lease cycle is up. so you can guarantee you'll still be paying less than what they are renting the new units for.
the list goes on and on.

Some people just don't like change, and staying in one place can make you feel more stable.

You never have to expand your life and give more of yourself to anyone or anything out there. You also accumulate a lot of stuff, which you will never get rid of, since you are not going anywhere ever. How small do you want to make your life?
