Would you start Josh Beckett or Jon Garland as your #5 starter. ESPN projects 15-10 166 k's 4.42 era 1.25 whip for beckett and 17-8 113 k's 4.32 era 1.32 whip for garland. Beckett is projected as the 38th best pitcher and garland is the 74th. Personally, Im leaning towards Beckett because of run support and k's, but what u think?

I'd vary the pick each week, depending on how many starts and who the starts were against.

Then, as the season went on, if one was doing better than the other, I'd feel free to keep him in.

If this were a question about which to draft, I'd take a chance with Beckett. Not only will he have more Ks, even under ESPN projections his WHIP is better, and Boston is more likely to win more games for him than are the White Sox for Garland.

For what it is worth, Rotoworld projects Beckett as the #28 pitcher, and Garland the #73 -- projects Beckett with 15 wins, 160 ks, 3.93 and 1.24; and Garland with 14 wins, 117 ks, 4.27 and 1.34.

P.S. -- Garland has had a lousy Spring: "Garland ends the spring with a 7.66 ERA. He's given up 45 hits, walked five and struck out nine in 24 2/3 innings. His struggles leave little hope that he'll have much fantasy value during the early portion of the season."

Definitely go with the hot hand and see who's pitching against who, and where. Neither will make or break your fantasy season unless you made the FBL error of not getting a higher tier FL Starting pitcher & AT LEAST 1 but should be 2 deep in quality closers to keep team ERA and WHIP at reasonable levels.

you gotta go with beckett here. He had a streaky 2006 but the BoSox have one of the best pitching coaches and they have the run support to give you W's even in his bad outings.
