I am a High School Sophomore in a North Carolina (so I am in state). My current GPA is a 4.25, but I have done the calculations and with all my classes next year I will have around a 4.6 (I regret slacking off a little this year and my freshman year, but have only recieved 4 B's and am taking all honors classes and 4 AP classes next year.) I am in the Key Club, Treasurer of SADD Club, Non-fiction editor of our school literary magazine, captain of my homeroom, and sophomore class representative for our school's business alliance. I am in a community service club outside of school and volunteer frequently at the local hospital. My mom, dad, and my sister went to UNC Chapel Hill and my mom gives a lot of money annually to the nursing program (if that counts any). I know that my essays will be above average; I have not yet taken my SATs but am hessitant to say I will score above average. I plan to apply early admission senior year. I know I'm obbsesed but can i get into UNC Chapel Hill?

The key to your application will be your SAT scores. Grades are good. Extra currics are more just the bare minimum for a top state school like UNC Chapel Hill. So, it mainly boils down to whether you have the SAT scores they're looking for.

Donating to a public school does almost nothing for you in terms of admissions. It's for a good cause though.

You certainly meet the requirements, but whether you WILL depends heavily on luck of the draw. Each college receives lots of qualified and impressive candidates, and they try to select a range of students - not just those with the best test scores. They always have far more applications than they have available seats, so there is always the chance that plenty of terrific applicants will get cut.

I would strongly suggest you apply to several other schools as a safety net, and make UNC Chapel Hill your "early decision" school. It's highly unlikely that your mom's donations to the nursing school will help you - unless there's a building named after her, the review board and the fundraising team keep a strict wall between themselves.

Remember that many colleges value quality of participation over quantity - being a president and founder of one active club is far more impressive than being a member of several clubs.

Look into how many students they accept per year- and most importantly how many for your major.

then ask around if anyone else is going for it. and make sure to stay above that persons grades so you have a better shot.

as for your parents giving money- that could help however I think that is a load of crap and shouldn't happen.

just make sure to keep your goal intact.

all the school activities should really help you out though....

best of luck!
