I don't want to get into a war with your mom, but masturbation is normal and I've never heard of it as being a contributor to vaginal cancer. There are much, much riskier behaviors. Don't know what the bump is but, at 13, your body is raging with hormones which could cause all kinds of skin conditions. If it persists or becomes painful, see a doctor. Don't worry -- you're normal.

If that were true a lot more people would have cancer of some type.
There is nothing wrong with doing it as long as you are in private and clean up anything you use--fingers, toys, etc.
If the bumps aren't painful then don't worry about it. Unless you've been sexually active it isn't going to be something all too dangerous. You could just have a skin irritation.

Your mom is just freaked that you are masturbating. She is probly worried now that you know the release you can have that soon, possibly before your ready, touching yourself is not going to be enough and you will start having sex. Masterbation does not contribute to cancer. It is not risky behavior, it is not abnormal. Google the statistics. Just about everyone masterbates. Even your mom. So...what I recommend is having a chat with your mom. Mayb through letter or email if its easier. Explain to her you know that what she told you is untrue and ask her why she lied. She should know that giving you false information is not going to help you. It will only confuse you and possibly lead you into risky behavior.
I went to high school with a girl whos mother worried if she started masterbating shed become the town whore. From the time we were younger than you this girls mom was telling her not to masterbate. it was bad it was dirty nice girls dont do it (all lies). So the girl didnt masterbate she had sex instead. Why? instead of her mother was lying to her (even tho it was to protect her) her mother should have been informing her. the girl recently died from AIDS.
Talk to your mom.

okay, you cant get cancer from masterbating, but you can get infections. you should try your best to abstain from sex and masterbation, until you are married. I am 24, and a remeber when I was 13 also. And masterbation does lead to sex, that ain't no lie. But if you are going to do it no matter what, be clean about it, and just do it in the shower. Oh and get that bump checked out, it may just be from shaving, but if it doesn't go down, it can get infected and start to hurt.

Masturbation is normal and a healthy way of learning about the parts of your body.Just make sure you wash your hands after.Maybe she does not feel comfortable with masturbation. Red bumps may be caused by pimples. There are books you can read.

Okay, yes! You won't get Vaginal cancer! And if you have a bump, it's probably a yeast infection!
