Do they think about all the hardships the child will have to endure in life? Do they think about all the diseases the child may acquire, and all the injustices that will be launched against him in this world? Or do they simply think, "Oh nice, I want a baby, they are very fun. Lets have one!"?

Some, plan for and are so excited about raising a child
Some, are "pleasantly" surprised
Others, are not so pleasantly surprised
For some, its a quick romp in the hay
For others, it's a crime against humanity

But...hopefully, few will say "oh I want a baby, they are very fun"

Some probably do, some don't. I think everyone should carefully weigh everything before having children. There's so much to consider that the decision shouldn't be taken lightly.
When people think of raising kids, though, they mainly think, "Will I have a girl or a boy?" "Is our marriage strong and are we committed before we bring a child in this world?"
"Are my finances such that I can well afford to have a baby?"
These type questions are good to ask and very common. But people don't really think about the hardships, diseases and injustices that may befall their child. Everybody knows life is a risk and people take it because the joy of having a baby outweighs the potential hardships.

I think you may be on to something by considering that most people don't look in-dept as to what they are actually considering. Since lots of times people are either caught off guard with the situation or just filling a societal expectation that hinges on the ego. All the fear over life comes much later.

The thing is, life was never supposed to be a bed or roses, most likely because we never consider that average roses have thorns. So I guess the best mentality is to believe that any new life would have the same chance that you have had.

If everyone who has had children took the time to examine all the assumed facts, none of us would be here.

People procreate because we live in a chaotic existence that strives to exist. For what?I don't know, and I don't know if there even is a reason.I'll quote Ian Malcom from Jurassic Park,"Life finds a way."I personally love the idea...no...realization of chaos. We create because of our will to power.
We all want to create in some way.If not by making a child,we Draw, paint, write, etc.Procreating is the ultimate demonstration of power.I want a child eventually to make use of my creativity.

Good Question! I think people dont philosophise enough, and thats why the world is how it is...its a crazy place, because in general people don't care to think before they act; they would rather have instant gratification and worry about silly old consequences later....
