why shouldn't you go down a elevator when there is a fire?

The reasoning behind not going down a elevator when there is a fire is, even though you may not see the fire it MAY be burning the electrical wires that supplies power to it. Also it could be burning the roof trust that supports the elevator. You would never know that any of this is happening in a building that is big enough for smoke to get around and would suffer the results.

while trapped, you could be burnt alive, suffocated by smoke or poisoned by gas vapours. baically, if you do that, there is a good chance that you are basically killing yourself, power goes out=get stuck, smoke coming in= suffocation, cables melt=fall to death, fire getting in= cremation. basically a elevator is a death trap in a fire. the fire escape is made to be mostly fire proof and theres no chance of any cables snapping for a fire escape so you wont fall to your death. at least you wont be trapped in a small space waiting to die if you take the fire escape.

cuz the chord thing on the elevator could break or something or u could get trapped in the elevator and be killed by smoke instalation or something like that. thats how my uncle died (b4 i was born)
