Theoretically, I'm sure a atomic bomb could take care of any tornado, but practically speaking this sounds like a very bad idea.

Tornadoes do a lot of damage, but typically to a relatively small area, which can be rebuilt immediately.

But an atomic bomb will kill every living thing for many miles around. and leave the blasted area totally uninhabitable for decades due to residual radiation.

Oh course it could. And while the tornado might kill a dozen people and destroy homes in a specific neighborhood, the atomic blast will kill everyone in a 3 to 5 mile radius and vaporize all buildings in the vicinity. In a radius of 10 miles, buildings will be standing, but useless and the people will die within 90 days from the radiation.

I'll take the tornado.

An Atom bomb could take out all of us once and for all but certainly not a tornado.

Although yes it could, the US hasn't had it's nuclear reaction force to the strength required to react that fast since the 50's. Drag. It would really work well.
