I'm used to seeing GPA's according to this scale:

4.0 = A
3.6 = A-
3.3 = B+
3.0 = B
2.6 = B-
2.3 = C+
2.0 = C
1.6 = C-
1.3 = D+
1.0 = D
etc.

So, an 82.66% would be a 2.7 or so.

Or, you can just do the A=4, B=3, C=2, and D=1 format. Not tenth of a point for + or -. A- and A+ are both worth a 4.0.

If in college, different classes have different credit amounts so that may change things.

Doesn't your school give letter grades for courses? At any school I've worked for, the numerical grades fall into ranges for letter grades, which are determined by each individual professor. The GPA is based upon the letter grades. If your grades were not curved for any classes, an 82.66 would be somewhere in the B to B+ range.

It's really hard to work with averages... the easiest way to figure out your GPA is to take your individual grades and "translate" them into the GPA scale.
Here's a GPA calculator:
http://www.cabnr.unr.edu/cabnr/Students/GPA_Calculator.htm

If you just want to calculate the GPA for a single semester, leave the top sections (where it says total # of credits attempted, current GPA, and current grade index) blank. The calculator does accept minus grades; it looks like a B- translates to a 2.7.
Note: this GPA calculator assumes you're in college; if you wanted to calculate a high school GPA for an entire year, I suppose you would do the same, except where it says credit hours, it would just say "1".

well my average grades were 93.99997 and my GPA was 3.3 so i'd say 82.66 would equal around a 2.6 maybe.

My school breaks it up to this (approximately):
A+ >>4.0
A >>3.9-3.8
A- >>3.7
B+ >>3.6
B >>3.5-3.4
B- >>3.3
etc. So you would fall somewhere between a 3.4 and 3.3. Check on your school's website... most have a gpa calculator.

.83 * 4 = 3.32 not a bad g.p.a. but you might want to try and raise it to a 3.5
