Last year, my school started the spring play. The whole purpose of the play is to bring meaning and cultural awareness to the people in the audience. Last year, our drama department did "The Laramie Project" concerning the issues of hate crimes and homosexuality. Another criteria that we want to meet is that the show has to be ensemble based. (we don't want any definite leads and we don't mind giving multiple roles to one actor) This year, we are a little stumped for ideas. So far we have only come up with one play - "The Arabian Nights" which shows the other side of Baghdad through stories performed by the actors. Does anyone have any suggestions for plays that fit this criteria? Your advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

You might try "Blood Wedding" by Frederico Garcia Lorca. If you do consider it, be sure to read the play itself (or a translation) because a synopsis will probably be somewhat deceptive in terms of the atmosphere of the play. Best wishes with whatever you choose!

Well, you know all the rules, how about getting a group of students together and write your own. It's fun and the ideas are endless.
