I had plunoric stenoisis as a baby. My 1st born ended up on alimentum formula and is still on a lactose free diet. Today is day 2 of the soy and she really has not improved. When she spits up she draws her legs in and literally screams as if she is in such pain. She cries just about non-stop all day and all night. This started at 6 weeks and on Friday she will be 8 weeks old. She also spits up alot a times, a little, and sometimes it is forceful. But, she always is spitting up especially during and after meals. Additionally, she is always hungry. Nothing seems to make her full. I was feeding her every 3 hrs but, she was taking 5 oz. I am now having her eat every 4 hrs and she takes 5oz more if I let her. l called my ped. and she sorta blew off my concerns and said give the soy three days and then give me a call if you are still having problems. I am doing all of the right things to alleviate spitting up. It is so hard to hear your little one scream when she is in pain.??

It can take anywhere from a few days to a week for a baby to react to a change in formula. My son was almost 3 months early and he had acid reflux and vomited 2-3 times a day until about 3-4 days after we finally tried the soy formula. After that he rarely spit up. She may also have gas pains, so try giving her Mylecon gas drops.

My child when through the same thing. Come to find out my child has colic which is another term for gas. I use infants MYLICON drops 1 drop in each formula feeding and also I give her colic tablets which eases up some of the gas. Since I have been doing that she has been doing less crying and sleeping through the night. I also give her 1 4oz bottle with 2 teaspoons of rice cereal and 2 drops of Karo syrup. This was suggested by my doctor as it will put something heavy on the baby's stomach and she will be less hungry. My daughter is 8 weeks old too. you might want to switch pediatricians instead of milks!

Sounds like your baby has acid reflux. The doctor should be more concerned being that your baby is in pain! And if you come to find out your baby isn't gaining weight than that is a real problem. My baby had this but his wasn't this bad. He was still gaining weight and when he'd spit up he was not in pain so I pretty much had to deal with it until he outgrew it at around 6 months. I know they have special formula for this and medicine but I think 7 weeks is too young for the medicine. Good Luck!

Give the soy one more day, if you don't see any improvement chances are your little one needs Alimentum or Nutramigen (the enfamil version of Alimentum) my daughter was MISERABLE for the first 6 weeks of her life because I didn't realize that Lactose Intolerance can be genetic, my older one has it, my father has it and I have it. There is also a protein in Soy Formulas that alot of babies that are allergic or intollerant to regular formula can not digest.

Take to doctor it is probably gases. When they are that small they don't know how to get rid of them so it causes them pain. The gases provoke the food to come back out. You need to take the baby to doctor as soon as possible. Also the pain could be from constipation. Check how he does doodle? How does it look? Is the baby having problem pushing it out. ANYWAYS TAKE TO DOCTOR. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT THAT PAIN COULD CAUSE. sOME PAINS CAN CAUSE DEATH. GET A SECOND OPINION IF THE DOCTOR DOES NOT CARE.
Listen: Before you change a milk, you have to get the old milk out of the system by giving water to the baby the whole morning and food so there isn't two different formulas mixed in her stomach because that causes gases and pain.

I totally understand how frusterated you must be! My son seemed so upset and in pain as well when he ate. As long as your baby is gaining weight, don't worry about it. Have you tried doing the 'bicycle' with her legs??? Help her get the gas out:) My son started all of that around 2 weeks, and he is just seeming to get better at 10 weeks. Be patient, it does get better. Babies spit up all the time, and as long as it's not projectile vomiting each and every time, don't worry. Call your doc and/or get a second opinion. Maybe they will give you a Rx for Prilosec!! My son tried that too, but threw that up as well. How fun!! hehe Good Luck:)

It sounds like acid reflux. My baby had it and she was miserable until we found out what it was. She was always vomiting, and crying and hungry. We had to give her a lot of cereal in her bottle just for her to keep it down. If it didnt have enough she would vomit it back up. She was put on medicine also. As she got a little older i quit giving her the medicine and now that shes one i finally got her off the cereal in her bottle! I know how you feel with the screaming and pain. Hopefully you will find out whats wrong. Look up the infant acid reflux on the web and check out the signs and symptoms. Its really sounds like thats what it is. Good luck. (if her doctor wont listen to you, get a new one.)

First of all follow your gut instinct. You know your baby better than any ped.. If one blows you off seek a second opinion! Also, when changing formulas you should stick with one for at least a week because it takes a couple of days for the old formula to work out of his/her system and then adapt to the soy! Stick it out for a few more days and definately seek a second opinion.

you need to give baby at least a week on a new formula until her body adjusts
drawing her legs up and screaming sounds like she has bad gas--that is exactly what my baby did on enfamil and similac-we swtiched her to nestle good start and she was awesome-the bad gas was gone and we noticed a difference after the very first feeding on it.
I would definately switch her to the nestle--the ing. are already paritially broken down-so it's easier on baby's tummy.
seriously-my daughter went from night to day with it.-my baby did exactly what your baby did.
for spit up-be sure to leave her sit up at least 10 minutes after every feeding.
for the gas--try mylicon drops. -they worked wonders until we switched to nestle
& she is probably always hungry because she spits up what she eats.
try the nestle!! lol- it was just amazing the change in my daughter after her first bottle on it...
