The blanket traps a layer of air between the blanket and the body. The human body produces heat as a by-product of metabolism (conservation of energy). The heat liberated by metabolism is trapped in the air layer between the blanket and yourself, keeping you warm

you know what, every body has a property of giving out heat
so does our body
usually this heat is what keeps us warm
but during the winters this heat is lost in nuetralising the effect of cold surroundings
What the blanket does is keep this heat conserved around us
at the same time a thin clothe can't do that since blanket being thick can trap more heat

A blanket is a bad conductor of heat, so if it is wrapped around us , it does not allow the heat of our body to pass out. So, the absence of heat escape retains the heat inside the body giving us feeling warm.
