I really liked alot of the alternative from the 90s.Polaris is my favorite at this time.They had that song in the beginning of Nickelodeon's The Adventures of Pete & Pete.I also really like Radiohead(The Bends being their best) and REM.I like alot of acoustic and folk inspired rock.Jazz and Blues are great.I like a few indie bands like Modest Mouse and At the Drive-in.I like the older emo bands like Jimmy Eat World,though I don't care for most of the new stuff.I really listen to everything,but really like bands that just stand out and don't really belong to a certain group...or end up being called alternative.I listen to everything from Punk to Bluegrass and Classical.

Bands... That means Bob Dylan is out then. So, in no particular order...
1. The Rolling Stones - Older than dirt, and can still crank out rock tunes that blow 99% of the stuff today out of the water
2. The Who - Everything they do is spectacular. They manage to amalgamate blues, rock, psychedelic, and even country into one big awesome.
3. Zeppelin - Everything that is rock and roll.
4. The Beatles - Started it all. If not for the Beatles, none of these other guys would even exist.
5. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - I love them more than words can express. I saw them live and I cried.

Well since I grew up in the 90's, here are some of my favorite bands.
Stone Temple Pilots, Filter, Alice In Chains, Janes Addiction, Godsmack,Rob Zombie, Whit Zombie,BuckCherry, Korn, Army of Anyone, Green Day, and The BloodHound Gang.
Well there they are..thought it's just my opinion.
