Yes, my mother would use a wooden spoon, it's a good thing too, if she would of used something more substantial, she probably would have killed us. She gave spankings with gusto.

Wow, they sure did!!! They would make us dance the rhythm of a belt on the butt and the legs. I hated to go to school cause I couldn't wear long pants. My heritage is to blame..."speak when spoken to" was the rule. The big hand would raise and I'd see the glimmer from my grandfathers' gold ring. He was right : Silence was golden"
