That is depending on some things, first off if you have a wireless ethernet usb stick then yes that is all you need. Now as for connecting to networks via the software that might be a little tricky. If you have Windows XP then you should already have the neccessary software for connection. If you don't have Windows XP or greater then go to the USB stick in your My Computer folder to see if the WiFi stick carries its own software. The software either by the manufacture or windows will remember the password & connection information for the networks you connect to.

Well I think you may be missunderstanding the WiFi standard. It is NOT a MOBILE standard in any means. It allows you to connect wirelessly to public routers (there are a few) and to your own LOCAL network (if you have a wireless accesspoint) but it is not like cellular. It can only work on a single connection at one time and those are limited to around 300-400 feet in most cases.

You can use Starbucks, Borders Book Stores, etc but not while you are "driving about" it will die almost instantly if you find an open connection. Each connection will issue an IP so you wont roam at all.

As far as the USB that is all you need on your PC but you do need an access point that allows you to connect. Most are private and local!
