I used to work there about 7 years ago and it cost anything from about £9+.

I would really recommend having your ear pierced with 9ct gold rather than the 18ct plated gold (providing you don't have any alergies), as there are far fewier reactions. The 9ct earings are also thinner than the plated ones so generally less painful and the gun used is much quieter and gentler than the automatic one used for plated!

The top of the ear can be quite delicate and is prone to infection so make sure you clean it as directed. It might look ok after 3 days but don't be fooled!

To the message above re Claires not being licenced....I add that it depends on which store you visit and the borough its in. I worked in central London where we had to be licenced. I was trained and licenced by Westminster Council and the store had rigourous checks throughout the year!!

well i had my ears peirced at clairs twice and my friends had it done there a few times all of them are crooked. They dont hire licenced peircers and they use the peircing guns so it actually hurts more. The best thing to do *even though it sounds scary to some people* is go to a tattoo parlor, they have to be kept clean or the health department shuts them down and there licenced and it is generally cheaper so your getting alot better quality then clairs. oh yea but if you decide to go to claires anyway the earcleaning stuff they give you isnt really the best thing. its alcohaul based so it keeps your ear from scabbing on the inside *i no it sounds good but its not* the scabs help your ear heal so you should just use soap and water its alot better for your ear

you dont get cartilage piercing at claires. thats the problem.. i learned form all o fmy frineds not to get my cartilage piercings done. they guns are innacturate and ususlly end up crrooked. it also shatters the cartilage which can ultimately lead to cartilage collape. they dont use proper jewelry. they use thos studs which wil only give you loads of problems. first off because they are not of accurate lenght. and second of all they are not of a high grade material. save your money and trouble. flip through your phone book and start calling your local tattoo/body piercing shops. they are actually expereinced! and have gone through STRICT appenticeships. some teenager a the mall whi lears to piere ears with a horrible piece of equiptmen cant.. they learnt to pierce on post it notes and fake plastic ears.. who woudl you rather go to?

also piercing guns wuill cause you unneccessary pain. and a longer healing duration. (cartilage piercings can already take up to a year to fully heal) also cartilag epiercings are for for up to 2 months.. that would be longer with a gun

please get it professionally done with the proper tools in a steril environmetn. they use better equiptmen (hollw needles) and hig quality jewelry! you will have alot less problems by going to a professional body piercer!

traust me on this one!

email me if you want a few links for mw to show you or if you have any more questions!

also they do not tell you abotu the necesary aftercare. they just give you that bottle.. which is bad for you cause the chemicals are to harsh already....

ill go find some links for you...

read this article^^^^

autoclave is a machine that completly sterilizes jewely

when they say gauge it means the thickness. in that articale they say a dermal punch. which is punching a hole out of your ear (a 2g punch is 1/4" wide) t hey say it will heal months faster than a regular piercing in the same are (lets say cartilage) than an 18g (the standard post size which is .81mm wide)

convinced yet?

dont go to claire's for piercing. I recently made a mistake of going there to get my cartilage pierced on one of my ears. It was around £25 with the studs and after a few months instead of improving it became really painful and red around the pierced area so I had to remove the stud :( try some professional piercing place where they do it properly ..try searching around your local yellow pages or find out from your nearest beauty shops or something.

it's free to do. But you have to pay for the earrings, which are in a choice of 9ct gold ones.
H.Samuel do free ear piercing also & the same with the policy that you have to pay for the earrings.
